Our next show will be on Sunday, September 26th at 7:30pm (taking a break in August). We’ll have a whole new line-up. For up to date info on Comedy Covo go to its webpage.
The above photo captures federal agents raiding the home of a Gizmodo editor in Silicon Valley. The raid was ordered after repeated requests from Apple to Gizmodo for the safe return of their beloved next generation iPhone. The iPhone was abandoned by one of its engineers in a bar. Had a great show last night. Standing room only at Comedy Covo. The audience was really awesome. The comics kicked ass (we should have our own movie with that title) and the music was rockin. Below are some photos from the show. Next show is Sunday, May 23rd at 7:30pm with headliner Karith Foster! See you then!
A next generation Palm Pre, skinned in the current Palm Pre casing was found in a Taco Bell bathroom outside Palo Alto Saturday night. A patron using the restroom said he found it sitting near a trash can under the restroom’s sink.
“Someone obviously is not freaking out right now. It almost seemed like they had to decided to throw it out but thought there was a chance one person might get excited about it, “ said Robert Geiger, who handed the phone into Taco Bell’s closing manger, Raphael Hernandez.
At first glance, no discernable differences were found between the current Palm Pre and this next generation model except for the label printed near the bottom of the phone stating “Next Generation Palm Pre”.
Mr. Hernandez’s attempts to sell the secret phone to media outlets were not successful. Even calls made to Gizmodo, the online gadget magazine responsible for breaking last week’s iPhone discovery, went unreturned. After putting the phone up for sale on Craigslist, where it received no interest, Mr. Hernandez threw it out.
On the heels of the controversial Prospect Park bike lane proposal comes a new plan which would create separate stroller lanes on Park Slope streets. The plan was developed after years of complaints about strollers taking up too much room on the area’s narrow sidewalks. The proposal, authored by a local group called Park Slope Childless Hipsters, calls for creating several lanes dedicated to strollers.
“It’s a win-win for the community,” stated PSCH member Bret Freider, an unemployed tattoo artist. “Since strollers are vehicles, they belong on the street with bikes, cars and trucks.”
Some local mothers are not happy with the plan.
“It’s not wide enough,” said Park Slope mother Amber Jameson, who recently gave birth to twins. “How am I supposed to push my double-wide while walking with my mommy friends as we chat about lattes and Lost?”
Bikers are upset because it now forces them to either ride in traffic or invent a levitation device.
Brooklyn Borough President Marty Markowitz is against the stroller lane proposal, citing his car-owning constituents as the reason. He argued that adding stroller lanes would cause more traffic congestion in Park Slope. At a recent Community Board 6 meeting, Markowitz proposed an alternative plan that would eliminate sidewalks all together and create additional lanes for automobiles.
“If you ask me, Brooklynites should take cars everywhere. Get a car seat for the baby and drive. That’s what cars are for,” stated Markowitz.
Community Board 6 will take up the issue at a public meeting next month.
Applebees have implemented a weird attempt to fool passer-byes into thinking people are eating at their restaurant. The chain, known for their heart attack inducing ribs, have placed mannequins at tables in their front windows. (see photos)
The restaurant, located in a new mall by Yankee Stadium certainly kept in mind the diversity of the area, serving up a large number of fair-skinned, blonde-haired, blue-eyed mannequins – in the middle of the Bronx. What makes this display simply laughable though is that none of the mannequins are obese.
A walk around the corner to the back entrance where Applebee’s customers are actually eating, passer-byes can see the real customers: overweight, humans devouring their Double-Glazed Baby Back Ribs.
Had a great time last night with the comics who came up to Harlem to perform at Covo Lounge. We had tunes played by the amazing DJ ROX and a great turn out. Photos below of the event. We are hoping to make this a monthly comedy show and will let everyone know when our next show at Covo will be. More photos on the album on Facebook here: http://bit.ly/dfdNII
